Lhauren Singleton, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Youth advocate, non-profit leader, and influential speaker are just a few words to describe Lhauren Singleton. She currently serves her community as the Executive Director for ASPIRE Relationship Education. For Singleton, the work she does stems from a passion that began when she was one of the teenagers she now aims to help. As a Freshman in High School, Singleton participated in the SMART program, which she credits as a stepping stone that led her to where she is today.

Now, she is a certified sexual risk avoidance specialist and certified leadership coach. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Ministry Leadership with a minor in Business Management from Cornerstone University. Since joining the ASPIRE team, Singleton has spearheaded the development of Ready, Set, ASPIRE! - an online academy for relationship education that aims to equip and empower youth and their families to make positive choices and have healthy relationships.

One of her greatest aspirations is to continue to help individuals realize their own value as early in life as possible, and recognize the lasting impact of making positive choices.

In her personal life, Singleton is a wife and mother of children, Nicholas and Noah. She resides in the Greater Lansing area with her family where they enjoy visiting local parks, attending their local farmer’s markets, and spending time serving their community.

Emma Hickey, ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Emma moved to Greater Lansing in 2014 from the Metro Detroit area to attend Michigan State University for her undergraduate degree. She graduated with her Bachelor’s of Nutritional Sciences and quickly realized the passion she had for supporting others in creating a life they love to live. This led her back to MSU in 2022 to pursue her Master’s of Clinical Social Work. During her first year of the Master’s program, Emma had the opportunity to intern at ASPIRE and immediately felt connected to the vision, values, and culture of the organization. After her internship, Emma officially accepted a position on the ASPIRE team as the Assistant Director.

The work ASPIRE does to educate, equip, and empower young people is what Emma believes will help create a more equitable and compassionate world where everyone has the opportunity and support to be their best selves. Emma is excited and honored to serve the young people and their families in Greater Lansing and beyond through ASPIRE.

In her free time, Emma enjoys spending time with her loved ones, cooking and baking, practicing yoga, writing, and being outside.

Lori L. Bolan, the founder of ASPIRE, was raised in Michigan and obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Western Michigan University. After graduating, she relocated to Houston, Texas where she managed a Contract Engineering firm for 5 years. In 1984, she married her husband Dave, had their daughter Lindsey in 1986, and moved back to Michigan in 1987. Lori started her own business and worked as an Independent Contractor for 3 years. These previous years of employment served as stepping stones that prepared her for a role that became more than just a job.

Lori's passion lies in equipping teens and young adults with the tools to develop self-liking and self-respect, empowering them to make choices and decisions that benefit their present and future. She believes that medical accuracy is crucial in this field and has attended numerous trainings over the years, including a Master's level course offered by the National Abstinence Education Association in 2014, where she obtained her Sexual Risk Avoidance Specialist certification.

For over 25 years, Lori's favorite aspect of leading the SMART program has been working with students in the classroom and witnessing their understanding and appreciation of the material. Their positive feedback at the end of the presentation confirms the impact of her work. ASPIRE owes much of its success to Lori's dedicated service for over 25 years. Although she retired from the role of Executive Director in January 2020, she remains one of the organization's most loyal supporters.
